Edison Township Master Plan
Our organization is one of the invited participants during the 2001/2002
updating process of the Edison Township Master Plan.
We are actively working with the Edison Open Space Advisory Committee to provide input and
assist with the revisions and planning objectives. Along with the Township
Officials, we have been meeting with the contracted professionals at
Schoor Depalma, Inc. of Manalapan, NJ.
During these meetings, which started in July, 2001, the existing Master Plan
was reviewed and a map of the current land uses in Edison were prepared and
displayed. Afterwards, the goals and objectives were presented and
discussed. Continuing through the present, the following elements of the
proposed, comprehensive Master Plan were presented, analyzed, debated and
planned for submission:
- Land Use
- Housing
- Community Facilities
- Utility Service Plan
- Circulation
- Recreation
- Conservation & Open Space
- Economic Plan
- Historic Preservation
- Recycling
- Storm Water Management
An updated base map will be added to the final Comprehensive Edison Master
Plan.
There will be public hearings for citizen review and comments. The Edison
Planning Board will ultimately vote on the adoption of the Master Plan and
the Edison Council will legislatively confirm it by Resolution. It then
becomes the legal Zoning Ordinance and Land Use reference for the Township.
It also reflects the"community vision" for making "Edison Township a unique
and desirable place to both live and work".
